Matt Walker

Elder | Senior Pastor

During his childhood years in northern Indiana, God opened Matt’s spiritually blind eyes and led him to repent of his sin and believe in Jesus who is the way, the truth, and the life. (John 14:6) After graduating from Purdue University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering God changed Matt's heart from engineering to vocational Christian ministry.  He graduated with a Master of Theology degree from Dallas Theological Seminary  in 2005 and is currently pursuing a Doctor of Educational Ministry at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.  Matt has served as senior pastor of GCC since 2009 where he passionately proclaims  the truth of God's Word so that all who hear might have faith in Jesus. (Romans 10:17)  Matt also serves our McCordsville/Fortville community as a fire department chaplain.  He enjoys spending time with his family and reading about early church reformers like Zwingli, Calvin and Knox - and he can usually be found building something outdoors.

He and his wife, Anna, have been married since 2002 and love talking about the Bible together over a morning cup of coffee.  Anna is currently pursuing a PhD in biblical counseling at  The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary where she previously earned a master's degree in the same field.   She loves helping women learn to study God's word, having authored several women's bible studies, founded Reformed Womanhood, and currently works with Fieldstone Counseling.  Matt and Anna  have two children; a son in college and a daughter in high school.

Andrew Scherer

Assistant Pastor

A central-Ohio native,  Andrew grew up in the church with his mother and was later led to saving faith in Jesus Christ in high school when the Lord gave him a new heart and a new Spirit (Ezek. 36:26).  From there the Lord began to give him a desire for pastoral ministry. Yet, in a desire to honor his family,  Andrew first earned a bachelor of science (B.S.) in  Electrical/Physics Engineering from Taylor University. From there, the Lord first led him to GCC as a member and pastoral intern in 2022, then as a pastoral assistant in 2025 when he graduated from Indianapolis Theological Seminary (ITS) with his Masters of Divinity, and now as the assistant pastor since summer 2026.

He and his wife Linnea have been married since May 2024. Linnea got her undergraduate degree in Forensic Science from Cedarville University and currently works as a biochemist contractor. She enjoys baking, being a prolific reader, and serving other women and their children in the local church.
