Pastoral Internship

Geist Community Church Pastoral Internship

The apostle Paul exhorted Timothy in 2 Timothy 2:2, saying “what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.” In this passage Paul lays the responsibility for intentionally raising up new leaders squarely at the feet of Timothy, who led the church in Ephesus. Timothy was to find faithful men, entrust to them the body of doctrine that Paul taught him, and entreat them to teach others. Today, this all-important responsibility to raise up faithful church members, missionaries, future elders, vocational pastors, and church planters continues to rest upon the local church!

The pastoral internship at GCC is an intentional, focused means by which we seek to accomplish what Paul commanded Timothy, while at the same time pursuing our desire for planting and assisting other local churches in our own community and around the world that are committed to God’s glory and gospel proclamation.

GCC collaborates closely with Indianapolis Theological Seminary (ITS) and their rigorous academic studies, which supplement and  enhance the practical ministry experience provided in context of the local church. Thus, it is expected that interns pursue a full-time seminary course load throughout the duration of their internship at ITS or another approved school.
